| Dear visitor, I'm a visual artist, mostly I paint. I aim to create portals to the insides of reality, or ways to open them up for experience - visually, mentally and socially. Good
artworks can have an important social function.
They bring conversation to a higher level. An
inspiring way of social conduct is highly
stimulated by good art, architecture and
interiors. In this awareness I create my
paintings. Processes
of perception and experience highly interest me.
As a painter I work with light and darkness,
color and substances. The social realm is also a
field of art where perception is key. Our
interaction is based on how we perceive each
other, what image we have of each other. I
worked with this notion with government
officials, artists and in the world of Waldorf
education, the latter mainly by writing articles
for the Dutch Waldorf magazine Seizoener. As an
artist one tries to have a deeper layer of
consciousness about creative work and an ability
to do research in this area. This I apply when I
write articles based on the expertise of other
professionals. Moreoften subconscious skills
become conscious in this process. Also in other ways I try to unite life and art. I created jewelry with reproductions of my paintings and in Enschede I host two B&B's (a yurt and a cabin). Here our guests can experience a unique way of living, a recreated bit of indiginous culture which is closely connected to nature. Where art and life go together, people can live in connection with nature, with their community or loved ones and in the honour of their natural rights. |
